Brussels

It is coming close to 2 years since we went to Europe and I haven’t finished posting those photos yet!!! hahaha how time flies! or perhaps more appropriate is, how I procrastinate!

Going back to our trip, from Brugge we took the train to Brussels where we spent 2 nights. Got ourselves a room in a little hostel, which had been newly renovated. So newly renovated that we think, it hasn’t been completely finished yet. The bathroom didn’t have a door…… hahahah it wasn’t all that bad, a nice bathroom with a bath but no door. Our unit/apartment had 2 floors and the bathroom was on the top floor with a bedroom and it had a living area on the bottom floor, where we spent most of the time. The bathroom had a screen that we had to manually put in place if we wanted to use it. Strange.

We visited the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Guruda. It was a very impressive gothic style cathedral built in the 13th century. Recent restoration works has returned it to its former splendour.

A few wrong turns and many tiring steps saw us through a rather dodgy part of Brussels before we finally found our way to the Grand Place. The Grand Place is the central square of Brussels, surrounded by magnificent architecture mainly from the late 17th century.

A friend had recommended that we try a restaurant, the Chez Leon, one of the two most well known restaurant in Rue de Bouchers (street of meat sellers). We walked among the many cobbled streets lined with cafes and restaurants and we found the restaurant!!! The mussels were highly recommended, and we found that they were really good.

I didn’t get any worthy photos but as you would expect the waffles and chocolates were absolutely to die for!

Next up Amsterdam!
